Brilliant By Design™

A More Sustainable Future

It’s all by design. The way we make our products, manage our facilities, take care of our people, and run our business is all in service of creating a bright, brilliant world. A world we are building today with renewable energy, recycled content, and that’s full of opportunity and equality for everyone’s tomorrow.

So every time the sun shines on one of our Suncast products, we take pride in knowing you’ll think it’s brilliant, too.

Powered by the Sun

Our commitment to lowering our carbon footprint starts with the rising dawn. From our name to the environments where our products thrive, the sun plays an integral role in our business, powering us towards a better future in all our operations.

  • We will reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% across all facilities by 2025 and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
  • We have installed solar power at one-third of our manufacturing locations. By the end 2022, all manufacturing facilities will be partially solar-powered.
  • We are replacing non-recyclable wooden skids and blocks with recyclable corrugated cardboard versions by the end of 2022.

Led by Innovation

Our customers know us for our smart, innovative products that make their lives easier and more efficient today, but our design for them goes beyond that. By developing products that incorporate recycled content and can be recycled at their end-of-life, we’re innovating our offerings so that they make life easier for our customers and the planet every day after.

  • We reuse 100% of our scrap resin in our manufacturing process.
  • Not built for single use, our products are engineered to last many seasons, and we offer replacement parts to extend useful life.
  • We use only non-hazardous, water-based paint.

Inspired by Our People

Our people make everything possible. From paying all our employees a living wage to supporting underserved communities through on-the-job training and apprenticeship, we strive to foster a diverse community and promote equal opportunity initiatives to make new things possible for them.

  • More than 70% of our manufacturing employees are BIPOC.
  • We are in the process of fully staffing a manufacturing department with up to 40 adults with autism through our partnership with AutonomyWorks
  • Our apprentice program benefits underserved communities by drawing from community colleges with at least 50% minority student populations. The program combines paid, on-the-job learning with related instruction in technical areas to produce qualified employees prepared for careers that require precision skills. These individuals also graduate college with zero debt.

Sustainable impact doesn’t happen overnight—it comes from improving every day. At Suncast, we are always looking toward the horizon for improving our processes, products, and environment inside our company and out to create meaningful impact. From the way we make our products to the way we encourage our employees, we have set ambitious, measurable goals to create a future that’s brilliant by design.

Leaving Nothing to Waste

By 2025, all our facilities will send zero waste to landfill.

Harnessing the Sun

By the end of 2023, 100% of our plants will be partially solar-powered, and all our distribution facilities will operate using 100% self-generated solar power.

Continuing the Cycle

Our products will be manufactured with 55% recycled materials by 2025. Our products also are designed to be recycled at their end-of-life. While we are developing a national network of recyclers that will accept all Suncast products by 2025, they can be returned to our Batavia, IL facility if local recycling isn’t available.

Creating Opportunity for Everyone to Shine

We have committed 50% of all Executive and Director-level positions and board positions to be held by women and minorities by 2025.
